keep readingNo needles. No surgery. No downtime. If you’ve been living with stubborn pain, shockwave therapy might be exactly what your body has been waiting for.
At United Wellness & Sports Rehab, we are always looking for the most effective, evidence-backed tools to help you feel your best. That’s why we are excited to offer Extracorporeal Shockwave Therapy (ESWT) — a non-invasive treatment that is changing the game for patients with chronic pain and soft-tissue injuries.
Shockwave therapy uses a handheld device to deliver rapid, low-energy acoustic (sound) waves through your skin to specific areas of the body. Despite the name, it has nothing to do with electrical shock — it is completely safe and comfortable for most people.
These acoustic waves stimulate your body’s own natural healing response by increasing blood flow and breaking up scar tissue to trigger cellular repair in ways that rest alone simply cannot achieve.
“It wakes up the healing process in areas that have gone quiet — in ways rest alone simply cannot achieve.”
Sessions are quick, typically lasting between 8 and 20 minutes, and most people need only 3 to 6 treatments to see meaningful improvement.
Shockwave therapy is particularly powerful for chronic musculoskeletal issues where the body’s normal healing process has stalled. We use it to treat a wide range of conditions, including:
If you have been told to “just rest” and it hasn’t helped, or if you’ve had a nagging injury for months (or years), shockwave therapy is worth a conversation.
Beyond pain relief, shockwave therapy stimulates collagen production and the formation of new blood vessels in damaged tissue, accelerating recovery. It also reduces chronic pain by desensitizing overactive pain receptors — making it a valuable option for those looking to reduce reliance on painkillers. There is ample clinical data showing high effectiveness for chronic tendon and soft-tissue conditions.
Shockwave therapy is safe and well-tolerated by the vast majority of patients, but like any therapy, it isn’t for everyone. During your initial consultation, we’ll review your full health history to make sure it’s the right fit.
Not sure if something on that list applies to you? Just bring it up when you call or book online — we’re happy to talk it through before your appointment.
We’d love to be part of your recovery. Reach out to schedule your consultation — we’re here to answer any questions.
